Bush should have “limitless power to wage it”.[1] The book details the origins of controversies such as NSA electronic surveillance program and the coercive interrogation program.

The book is already one of the best-sellers in non-fiction non-paperback in the United States, with its author Jane Mayer having been booked on various news programmes for interviews. It later made the New York Times Book Review list of “10 Best Books of 2008” as chosen by the paper’s editors,[2] and was nominated for the 2008 National Book Critics Circle Award in General Nonfiction.
